Thinking of staying at Water Tower in Devon? We’ve put together a suggested itinerary of the best activities on offer in and around the area, including the historic town of Lyme Regis, only three miles from this luxury holiday home. If you can tear yourself away from the beautiful house and indoor pool, here are some ideas to make the most of a week at this property.

Saturday:

Once you arrive at Water Tower, get straight into holiday mode with a swim in the stunning heated indoor pool, and start your break with complete relaxation. For dinner, cook up a barbecue, and enjoy al fresco dining in the peaceful outdoor space, with wide views of the lush countryside.

Sunday:

Start your day with a peaceful stroll through the beautifully tranquil Rousdon estate in which Water Tower sits. Think tree-lined lanes, lovely period cottages and a tiny chapel – quintessential English countryside.

Check the Lyme Regis noticeboard for events, such as the Food Rocks Festival in September. After all that fresh air, you’ll have worked up an appetite!

Monday:

For day three of your stay, enjoy a lazy breakfast of eggs and bacon in the wonderful kitchen. Once everyone’s up, take a stroll down to the nearby beach on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast; breathe in the fresh sea air and look for fossils. The private path from Water Tower meanders through the stunning Devon countryside.

After a refreshing coastal walk, relax in the heated indoor pool and sauna. Or if you’re feeling energetic, engage in competition and family fun in the well-equipped games room. Cook up a storm in the luxury kitchen and dine in style at the ten-seat dining table, or leave the hard work to a private chef! Simply let us know if you’d like to arrange this most memorable of experiences.

Tuesday:

Wake up with a freshly-made Nespresso coffee, then drive down to Lyme Regis where you can walk across the beachfront and experience the breath-taking sea views. Also on the beachfront is the Marine Aquarium, where you can see some of the local sea-life up close.

Enjoy an afternoon at the beach, whether it’s fossil hunting, sunbathing, building sandcastles or splashing about in the waves, this is the perfect way to relax and have fun. Even better when followed by tea and cake in the many tempting local cafes and teashops – it’s not a trip to the seaside without a cream tea or fish and chips by the sea.

Wednesday:

Explore the history of Lyme Regis by visiting The Town Mill, which has supplied flour to the local community since the 1300s. Discover the art of making flour, and listen to guides as they reveal the story behind the watermill.

Whilst in the artisan quarter of Lyme Regis, take time to uncover the creative side of the town: visit art galleries, a microbrewery and indulge in fresh pastries from the bakery and deli.
